What we are doing

We are leaving on June 23rd to go on a mission trip to Nicaragua, we will be gone for one week. Our dad has been there before, and we have seen lots of pictures of the children there and the home where they live - Cascabal.

We will be helping feed the children, working on the land where they are building a house, and growing food, doing art work with them, and playing with them.

Our mom and dad and lots of other people have been raising money here in the US to help feed them and build a house for them to live in. Some of them used to live on a garbage dump.

We would like to take some donations for the children - candy, art supplies, and other things. If you would like to donate something let us know.

We still need to raise $2000 for our trip. If you would like to donate something you can use the chipin, or send our daddy a check. We are trying to raise extra money so that we can give it to the people there to buy food or something they need.

We are going to have a yard sale to fund raise and are doing jobs - if you need something done - like cutting grass, let us know.

Thank you for helping us and praying for us while we are gone.

Keep checking this blog for updates.

  1. Hi Ethan and Benjamin,

I am excited to see your blog and to meet you both when we arrive in Managua. It is so cool that you are making a blog so that all your friends and family can read about your trip. My wife and I did that last year when we went to Central America for 23 days and the people back home really enjoyed it.

Here is a little known fact... do you know that the actual name of the orphanage we are going to is Jardin del Ninos? That means "Garden of Children" in Spanish. Last year my wife helped to paint that onto the bus we bought them. Up until then, I thought the same as you, that the place I was going to was "Cascabel." It turns out that Cascabel is the name of the dump. It also means "Rattlesnake." So, all along I had been telling people I was going to visit the kids of rattlesnake - funny!

Anyway, I thought you might like to know that... OK, maybe not!

The name of the town that is near the orphanage is Somoto. I like to take walks there early in the morning. Maybe one day we could do that. It is pretty cool to see the city when everyone is waking up and starting their day.

I am a band director at a Christian school and my wife is the elementary art teacher. We just finished school yesterday and are now officially on Summer Vacation! Yes!!! I think it will be awesome to get to know each other, so, I'll keep checking back and reading your blog.

Have a great day. God bless you guys!

    Mr. Carabello
